2024 NBA All Star Game

Intro:

Allstar Weekend is one of my favorite times of the season, it really is a showcase of the skills of the best basketball players on the planet. Let’s get into it!

Allstar Friday:

The NBA is working to make the Allstar weekend more exciting so they tweeked the Rising Star Challenge which used to be called the Rookie Challenge, which featured a 4 team elimination tournament. Instead of regulation they go up to 40 points which gives it pick up  game vibes. # 1 draft pick of the San Antonio Spurs Victor Wembayama impressed, but failed to win as his team were eliminated in the 1st round. It came down to the team Detlef which were a team of G Leaugers w Coach Detlef Shrimp vs. Team Jalen w coach Jalen Rose. Team Jalen defeated team Detlef for the trophy so now Jalen Rose w his too cool hairstyle can celebrate.

Allstar Saturday Night:

The NBA tried to tweek its Allstar. Saturday events to make it spicier. I thought it was decent but check it out.. The Skills Challenge is more of a team game so you had 3 teams, The Allstars vs The # one Draft Picks doing the regular obstacle course, with Haliburton from the Pacers finishing the layup part with a spectacular jam off the glass. The Pacers won round one, Round 2 was a passing drill to get the most points as The Pacers won round 2 in a nail bitter. Round 3 was a very “interesting ” match up as The Pacers won this Round for the Skills Challenge win. Next was The 3 Point Shootout. It was close but Haliburton came up short, & Dame Time was where hand of the clock was. as Damien Lillard win back to back 4 point shooting championships. Next up was Steohen VS Sebrina as Steph Curry battled WNBA star Sebrina Ioneseu shot it out in the first ever multi gender 3 point shootout. Sebrina did well with 26 points but Steph put exclamation with 28 points. This was a great battle,  & I hope the NBA continue this part of the 3point contest. Last but not least was the Slam Dunk Contest. All I have to say, was  Dr. J was in jeans, basketball cap, a hoody which you would rarely see. Why did Jalen Brown do the 1991 dunk by Dee Brown but decided to no look after the dunk was completed Mac McClung was able to win back to back Slam Dunk tittle in a less than stellar Slam Dunk Contest.

All Star Game:

Last but not least is the NBA All Star Game. We did see some flashes from Yannis , Lebron, & Durant,  but the surprising play for me was that of Karl Anhony Townes, who was spectacular in the second half. It was refreshing to see A.D back in the All Star Game , but he didn’t take advantage of Trey Young Gaurding him. The East beat the West in a blow out victory even scoring over 200 points first time ever done,  & Damien Lillard grabbed the MVP honors. This was a fun game to watch,  but it would have been better if it was more competitive, but 2 Buck Chuck enjoyed it.

Conclusion:

This was a fun weekend where hometown hero Haliburton,  & assassin Damien Lillard shined. The NBA can try to make this event better but it’s all about moments. You can put the players in place , but you cannot plan those legendary moments.  This is 2 Buck Chuck signing off. Cha- Ching$$$
